New look blog

Hello Everyone,

I have had a crazy few months, anything that could happen seems to have happened. I have decided to mark the start of a new stage in my life with a new look to this blog. I hope you all like it! I have made it much more personal to me.

From now I will be sharing much more of a variety of things with you all rather than just snail mail because I do have quite a wide range of quite similar interests haha. I am currently still living with my parents who just moved house but I am also moving out into my own apartment in a few months time. That means that literally everything I own it currently in boxes in the garage... Including all my letters -.- I have no idea what was going through my mind when I packed my desk up but as a result none of my letters are in my Snail Mail box, they are all packed... somewhere else... I went on a mini adventure today into the garage to try and find them and it was literally like trying to find needle in a haystack. Luckily my medication (which I had also stupidly packed) was in the first box I checked! Phew haha! So in conclusion I have not yet found the letters but I will keep you all updated. I bought some letter writing pads from paperchase the other day to write some consolidation letters to my penpals but time has not been my friend at the moment.

My Stuff

Today I started my preparation to become a student again! I will start studying languages and culture on the 3rd October with the Open University while working full time in my current job in international liaison. (It's not really hard to see how the two fit together haha!). I will be studying for 6 years to get a bachelor of arts degree. My first year will focus on different cultures and the meaning of language as well as Intermediate Spanish. I hope to share some of the interesting things I find with you as well as posting some things in both English and Spanish! (I'm nervously exciting just typing it!) I hope that's something that you will all enjoy as an addition to all the letters that I will still be writing.

 Eek!

Unfortunately amongst all the fun stuff above there has also been a lot of pain in the last few months. Sadly I lost my Grandad on the 31st of August. He had been terribly ill for months before he passed away and I was at his side the whole way. It's been an incredibly hard time for me, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who have lost a very close relative who know exactly what it's like. I designed a time line photo album for my Granny as well as creating a memory book so everyone can add their favourite memories with my Grandad. He really was a phenomenal man. I had the honour of designing the order of the service for the funeral and the amount of things he had done in his life was truly phenomenal. The funeral was a lovely celebration of all he had achieved and I honestly believe that there will never be a man quite as inspiring as him. May he rest in peace.

 Me and my Grandad

The future, however, is bright and I am following my dreams exactly how my Grandad would have wanted me to. And that starts here by sharing what I find interesting with you all and vice versa you all sharing what you love with me!

I can't wait to see how this blog develops and grows.

Snail Mail and Working Full Time

Hello there!

I haven't posted in so long and I am really sorry for that. I have been focusing on my Instagram as I love the way I can communicate with all my penpals there as well as showing photos of what I do.

So some of you will know already but I have just stated a new full time job! I left college in July and have finally started on the ladder on my ideal career path. I am seriously excited to be in the place I am right now but it does mean that my amount of free time is incredibly reduced. I had a large gap between college and starting work where I could literally dedicate my whole life to Snail Mail and now having a few hours in the evening to work on my letters is quite a change.

I started my new job with a backlog of 11 letters to reply to.. good start. You're probably wondering how that happened when I had so much full time. I actually managed to fall off an obstacle course straight onto my right wrist... smart move I know. That put me out of action for about a week and half and in that time 11 letters managed to build up. Good start.

I have found it's the same as everything though, if you want to do something you will make time for it. I don't even have weekends free to myself so making time for anything really is a challenge! I found that if I just dedicated and hour or two after work to working on a letter, even if I only finished half of one, I would get through them. I am pleased to say that I am now completely up to date!

I was really worried to start with that I would have to cut down on the amount of pen pals I had or even stop writing all together but luckily I don't feel like I will ever have to do that. Admittedly though, I don't think it would be a great idea for me to take on any more penpals haha.

I hope to add some more things to this soon! Thanks to all the people who have continued to view my blog despite the fact I haven't posted much recently.

Jessica ♥
